Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine is a mercurial musician and singer who blends soul gospel jazz and R&B to create a unique mix. From Broadway to European festival and clubs, Sunshine has performed all over the world. Sunshine was born Denise White. She hails from Chester Pennsylvania, where she began her music career playing the piano and singing in the church. She attended Spellman College and began to learn the R&B styles of Atlanta. In 2005 she was hired as the lead keyboardist for Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. In 2007, Grammy as well as Tony Awards-winning singer Jennifer Holliday sought her out to become the choral director for the stage production of Dreamgirls at the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine received national attention for four daily performances during the Democratic National Convention in 2008. Sunshine was invited to perform as part of the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
